Can 32-bit and 64-bit Versions NI Software be Installed on the Same Computer

Can I install both 64-bit and 32 bit LabVIEW on the same computer? If so, can I install them into the same folder?

Solution

32-bit and 64-bit NI software can coexist together without any problems. However, you cannot install 32-bit and 64-bit NI software into the same directory. This is because installing 32-bit and 64-bit software into the same directory might cause conflict and lead to unexpected behavior.

Additional Information

• Not all the LabVIEW toolkits and modules are supported by 64-bit version of LabVIEW. You can find additional information on the supported add-ons in this FAQ document.
• If you try to install 64-bit software into the folder in which 32-bit software is already installed, you will get the  following error message when selecting the installation directory. An incompatible product is installed in directory "C:\XXX\YYY\ZZZ\". Choose a different directory. Reset path to previous value?
• You sometimes get the same error even after you uninstall all NI software. You sometimes cannot install 64-bit software into the folder which was used to install 32-bit software but now which is completely empty. In such cases, please try to install 64-bit software into another directory.
