Solution

This problem could be related to a number of factors including database corruption, driver installation problems, stopped services, or security software. Work through the points below to debug and resolve the issue.

  • Reset the configuration data of NI MAX. To achieve this, follow the steps provided in How to Fix or Reset the NI MAX Database.
  • Be sure that the driver NI-DAQmx  is installed. To achieve this, follow the steps provided in Determine the Version of the NI Software Installed on My Computer
    • Even if the driver is installed correctly, it may happen that your anti-virus can block the writing of some files when you install the DAQmx driver. Uninstall the driver, disable the antivirus, and reinstall the NI-DAQmx driver.
  • If using 3rd party security or anti-virus software, temporarily disable it to observe the affects (if any) on NI MAX's loading time.
  • In the Windows Services application, ensure that the following services are set to Running and Automatic:
    • NI Configuration Manager
    • NI Domain Service
    • NI mDNS Responder Service
    • NI Network Discovery
    • NI PSP Service Locator
    • NI Service Locator
    • NI Time Synchronization
  • Reinstall or update NI System Configuration to the latest version in NI Package Manager or download the package from NI System Configuration
