Can I Save a Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI) Project for a Previous Version?

Issue Details

  • I have opened and saved my VBAI project in a later version than the one I originally developed it on. Is it possible to revert this project back to the previous version like in LabVIEW?
  • I have developed some VBAI projects in VBAI 2018 but my team in another region are working on VBAI 2015. I understand that VBAI 2018 projects cannot be opened with VBAI 2015. Does VBAI have a 'Save for Previous Version' feature like LabVIEW which can allow me to open my project in VBAI 2015?

Solution

Unfortunately, there is no native way to save VBAI projects for previous versions. The reason for this is that there could be many new functionalities in the newer VBAI version which did not exist in the older versions and hence you may run into errors. NI recommends that you should keep backups of all the files on each version the VBAI projects that you work on. Also, you may get save errors when opening projects originally saved in later versions.
