Solution
This issue is often caused by your computer being unable to successfully contact NI.com to download files needed for the installation.
There are a couple of options you could have:
- If you encounter this issue on a computer with NIPM already installed, then one approach is to uninstall and reinstall NI Package Manager. This is best done after temporarily disconnecting your computer from the network or web, which should stop the hanging behavior when NI Package Manager tries to launch during the uninstall process. Once NI Package Manager is reinstalled, you should be able to install your other NI software from the application.
- If you do not have NIPM installed already, then an alternative approach is to use either physical media or the offline installer. The offline installer can be found on any NI software download page by selecting the Individual Offline Installers link beneath the typical, online Download option.
- If you are using an offline installer but you are connected to a LAN with no internet access, try physically disconnecting from the network as well.
