Issue Details

Does NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS II) have circuit protection to prevent the variable power supply from over current and voltage?

Solution

NI ELVIS II has a self-resetting protection circuitry to protect the variable power supply circuit from being damaged by over current or over voltage.

The variable power supply internal circuitry is disconnected from the output when a short or over voltage occurs. When the cause of the disconnection is resolved, the variable power supply output recovers automatically.

The maximum output current allowed before the circuit protection shutdown the outputs are up to 500 mA for both +15 V and -15 V supply and 2 A for +5 V supply.

You can see for more information in NI ELVIS II Series Manual and   NI ELVIS II Specifications.
