Issue Details

I have a PXI system with a PXI-5660 Vector Signal Analyzer, and I am having to upgrade my system to a Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit operating system.

Will my PXI-5660 work on these operating systems?

Solution

The last version of Windows to support the PXI-5660 is Windows 8. Windows 10 and later do not support the PXI-5660.
The PXI-5660 is made up of a PXI-5620 Digitizer card and a PXI-5600 Downconverter card.
The PXI-5620 uses the legacy Traditional NI-DAQ driver, instead of the newer NI-DAQmx driver and the NI-DAQ driver is not supported on Windows 10 or later.
This is the cause of the incompatibility between the PXI-5660 and Windows 10 and later.

If you have access to a PXI-5142, this can be used in place of the PXI-5620. The PXI-5142 and PXI-5600 together form the NI 5661 Vector Signal Analyzer. Unlike the PXI-5620, the PXI-5142 uses the NI-DAQmx driver so it is compatible with 64-bit Windows 10 systems.
