What Do the LED Indicators on My DeviceNet Hardware Mean?

Issue Details

I'm using a device supported by the NI-Industrial Communications for DeviceNet driver and want to know what the LEDs mean.

Solution

Each supported DeviceNet product has bi-color (green/red) LED indicators to show status:

  • LED 1—The module status LED for the DeviceNet hardware interface.
  • LED 2—The network status LED for the DeviceNet hardware interface.
  • LED 3—Unused.
  • LED 4—Unused.

The following table shows the definition of the module status LED:

LEDDescription
OffNo application is using the DeviceNet hardware interface.
Flashing GreenThe DeviceNet hardware port is ready to use.
GreenThe DeviceNet hardware port is online.
RedThe DeviceNet hardware encounters the duplicate MAC ID error.


The following table shows the definition of the network status LED:

LEDDescription
OffNo application uses the DeviceNet hardware interface.
Flashing GreenThe DeviceNet hardware port is ready to use.
GreenThe DeviceNet interface has started.
RedThe DeviceNet interface encounters the Bus Off error.
