Why Is My RT Image so Large After Retrieving from the RAD Utility?

Issue Details

When I retrieve the real-time (RT) image of my cRIO-9049, it appears to be very large (greater than 800 Mb). However, my application is only about 300 Mb. Why did it almost triple in size?

Solution

When a real-time (RT) image is retrieved from the machine, the RT image includes more than just the application. Thus, if more software or National Instrument (NI) drivers, such as NI's Vision Development Module, were added since the last time the image was retrieved, the image size can be expected to increase, despite a negligible change in software application size.

Additional Information

National Instrument's Replication and Deployment (RAD) reference utility provides a great turn-key solution for automated RT image deployment, replication, and management.
