What could be causing this issue?

Solution

There are multiple conditions that could cause this behavior:

  • NI Services Not Running:

The NI Device Loader Windows Service (nidevldu) and/or NI Configuration Manager Service is not running, please start these services. If the NI Device Loader still does not start automatically after restarting computer, you can try to uninstall all antivirus software in your computer and restart again.

  • Computer Restart Needed:

This error is sometimes reported if the computer has not been restarted after the installation of the hardware driver. Please try restarting your computer.

  • Firmware Update Needed:

During a driver installation, firmware updates download with the driver for many NI devices. If you are using a USB device, this problem can be fixed by unplugging and re-plugging the device.

  • MAX Configuration Database Reset Needed:
MAX configuration database might be corrupted causing this error. Reset the database and restart your computer and devices and try again.

  • Interference from non-NI drivers:
Check from Windows Device Manager whether a third-party driver is set as prioritized over NI drivers.

  • Driver became corrupted
Try repairing, upgrading, or force reinstalling the driver.
