How Can I Monitor a Serial Port Using NI VISA?

Issue Details

I want to monitor a Serial Port to determine when Instrumentation that use the SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments) language on the RS-232 bus or USB bus - Test and Measurement Class have completed processing of the previous issued commands.
 

Solution

You can use the LabVIEW example Serial Port Monitor.vi that demonstrates the use of the NI VISA functions to monitor the Serial port.

 


This example can be found in the NI Example Finder in LabVIEW as follows:
Select Help»Find Examples»Hardware Input and Output»Serial»Serial Port Monitor.vi
