Issue Details

When I try to access my NI switch card with a SwitchExecutive configuration I get the following error message:

Possible reason(s): IVI: (Hex 0xBFFA002E) Initialization failed in driver DLL..

What causes this?

Solution

This error is caused by a missing NI-SWITCH driver component. It is possible to load and do many things in Switch Executive without having the appropriate driver installed correctly. This commonly points to not having the driver installed at all. It also may be possible to have a damaged install as well.

To correct this, install or repair the installation of NI-SWITCH. It can be downloaded from the website: NI-SWITCH Download.
  • You can check to see if you have NI-SWITCH and repair it by going to Control Panel » Add and Remove Programs. Then select National Instruments Software and click Change/Modify. If NI-SWITCH is installed, then it will appear in this list.
  • If you have NI Package Manager, follow this article: Repair Software In NI Package Manager (NIPM)

Note: Ensure that you are using a compatible software stack, and operating system
