I wish to use a C Series PROFIBUS Interface module with my compactRIO. How can I confirm if my compactRIO supports the module ?

Solution

Support for compactRIO depends on whether you are using the PROFIBUS module as a slave or a master as given below. Note that the information in this article is applicable for 4.0.1.2 version of cRIO PB Master/Slave driver and 4.0.0.2 version of cRIO PB Slave driver.

Using PROFIBUS Module as a Master
If you're using the module in the master mode, then the following compactRIO models are supported.

Using PROFIBUS Module As a Slave
When your module is used as a slave, the following compactRIO models can be used.
  • CompactRIO Controllers - cRIO-903x, cRIO-904x, cRIO-905x, cRIO-906x, cRIO-907x, cRIO-908x
  • CompactRIO Chassis - cRIO-910x, cRIO-911x, cRIO-914x, cRIO-915x

Additional Information

Not all C Series PROFIBUS Interface modules support master mode. Refer to the product documentation to verify if your module supports the master mode. For example, cRIO-PB-S supports slave mode only.

If you're using cRIO-PB-MS module, make sure to have Configurator III software installed. This software can be installed from the VI Package Manager .
