SystemLink™ Error 408 Configuring Health Monitoring Alarm Rules

Issue Details

I'm trying to set Alarm Rules for Health Monitoring Tags from my SystemLink™ Clients.
  • When I try to configure a specific rule, I see Error 408 in the top right corner.
  • I see this error again when click Save to keep changes I made to the rule.
  • I am not able to create new rules and see Error 408.

Solution

  1. Uninstall the "NI Skyline Notification Service."
    • Open NI Package Manager and go to the Installed tab. Uncheck “Products only” and search for “NI Skyline Notification Service.”
  • This will uninstall a couple of other packages as dependencies.
    • NI Skyline Alarm Instance Web Service
    • NI Skyline Notification Web Service
    • NI Skyline Tag Rule Engine Web Service
  1. Reboot
  2. Open NI Package Manager and go to the 'Installed' tab. Find the SystemLink Server item and click the cog on the far right column to install additional items.
  3. Reselect the items that uninstalled with NI Skyline Notification Service. On the Review pane you should see the four packages below. Proceed with the install. 
    • NI Skyline Notification Service
    • NI Skyline Alarm Instance Web Service
    • NI Skyline Notification Web Service
    • NI Skyline Tag Rule Engine Web Service
  4. Reboot
  5. Try opening the Alarm Rules menu again. The error should be resolved.
     

Additional Information

This behavior is caused by a crash loop in the NI Skyline Notification Service. Uninstalling just the service and reinstalling it reinitializes the service.
