Issue Details

I have a Volume License Agreement (VLA) with a license file that is running in an NI Volume License Manager (VLM) server. I'm creating a User/Computer group in the Groups tab. When I click on Add button next to the License section, I don't see any licenses available as shown below.

Why is this happening?

Solution

This behavior is related to the license type that is in use in the contract. If your license type is Concurrent-unmanaged, you will not be able to assign a specific license to a user or group. Unmanaged Licenses don't require any delegations of permissions to clients. The client machines can check-out seats if they have established communication with the server.

If you need to assign permissions of a license to a specific group of clients, you will need to evaluate the option to change the license type to a User or Computer-based format. If you decide to change the license type, you can send an email to customerservice@ni.com with the specifications of the changes.
