Issue Details

Can the HTML code generated with a WebVI in LabVIEW NXG run in an Apache web server running on a Linux machine? Or does it need to run specifically on NI's Web Server?

Solution

A WebVI can be hosted on any web server. Depending on the structure and the functions used by your application there might be certain considerations to take. For example:
  • A WebVI is communicating with a NI Web Server to provide information using the SystemLink Data Services (formerly known as Skyline API)
    • If the WebVI is hosted on the same NI Web Server, there are no additional configurations needed for the remote settings
    • If the WebVI is hosted on a third-party server, then the NI Web Server will require remote configuration to allow the communication using the SystemLink Data Services. The configurations that can be applied on the remote settings have different use cases, if you are interested in knowing more about it you can find more details in this help document.
    • If the WebVI is hosted on a third-party server and it does not use the SystemLink API, then there are no additional configurations needed on NI Web Server

Additional Information

The SystemLink API contains programming concepts and reference information that enables you to manage systems by leveraging SystemLink data services to communicate with web servers, such as the NI Web Server, SystemLink Server, or SystemLink Cloud server.
