How do I install LabVIEW 2011 on OpenSUSE 11.3?

Solution

  1. Open a terminal window; this can be found by going to Computer and entering Terminal into the search.  Double-click the GNOME Terminal (if you are using GNOME) or the terminal of your choice.
  2. Insert your LabVIEW media into the computer and navigate to it via the terminal.  For LabVIEW Professional it is located at /media/2011LV-LinuxPro  The full command in the terminal is:
    > cd /media/2011LV-LinuxPro
  3. Type sudo ./INSTALL into the terminal and press enter; this will bring up the LabVIEW Installation screen.
  4. You can press v to view the license agreement.  When you are done viewing type :q to exit  then type y to accept the license agreement and LabVIEW will start the installation process.
  5. After LabVIEW is installed, the script will ask if you want to install NI-VISA and NI-GPIB.  For instructions on how to install those two packages refer to the related links.
