How to Search for Hardware Specific Examples in LabVIEW Example Finder

Shipping example is the best reference for developers to get started and build a more complicated application. NI provides Example Finder with a built-in filter capability that helps list out all examples that are applicables for specific devices. In this article, we will be discussing how to utilize this feature to improve developers' effectiveness and productivity.

Use the NI Example Finder to browse or search examples installed on your computer. These examples demonstrate how to use LabVIEW to perform a wide variety of test, measurement, control, and design tasks. Select Help >> Find Examples or click the Find Examples link in the Examples section of the Getting Started window to launch the NI Example Finder. You can easily access NI Example Finder by doing the following:

      1. While opening LabVIEW, Click Help on the menu bar (you can find it on the project explorer, front panel or block diagram) then Click on Find Examples
     
      2. A new window named NI Example Finder would show

       3. Click on No Hardware Chosen >>  Add Device 

       4. Select the specific Device that you want to work with from the Dialog box and click on the Right Arrow

    
  5. In the NI Example Finder Dialog Box, select the specific Device from the Dropdown and select the option Limit Results to Hardware. Now you shall only the examples relevant to the Hardware that you have chosen.

Additional Information

Always create a copy by saving the examples to another name to avoid overwriting the original example VIs.

Please note that some certain set of examples won't be listed in the NI Example Finder, for example, NI-USRP several example applications are only accessible by opening from the following locations:
  1. From the Start menu at Start >> All Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-USRP >> Examples.
  2. From the LabVIEW Functions palette at Instrument I/O >> Instrument Drivers >> NI-USRP >> Examples.
