Issue Details

I am using the NI-9501, NI-9503, or NI-9512. Is multistepping or microstepping supported on these modules?

Solution

The NI-9501 and NI-9503 are Drive Modules, meaning they can connect directly to a stepper motor, supply power, and control it. They supportĀ software-configurable microstepping, with rates from 1 to 256.

The NI-9512 is a Drive Interface Module, which means it must connect to and control a motor drive, which then powers and controls a stepper motor. It supports connecting to drives with microstepping capabilities. Check your drive's manual to check its microstepping rates and find out how to enable microstepping.
