Issue Details

Currently, when I plug a USB device into my computer, Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) or SignalExpress starts up automatically. How do I prevent this?

Solution

The solution depends on whether you are using a National Instruments USB device or third-party USB Test and Measurement hardware.

National Instrument USB Hardware
If using a National Instruments device, the application is launched by the NI Device Monitor. Refer to Disable the NI Device Monitor Popup with USB Devices to learn how to avoid the NI Device Monitor from displaying the message or executing at all.

For USB Test and Measurement Devices (Windows 7 Only):

  1. Navigate to Control Panel»Hardware and Sound»AutoPlay to run the AutoPlay utility.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the window to the Devices section.
  3. Under Test and Measurement Devices, change the selected option from "Control Using LabVIEW SignalExpress" to "Take no Action".
