Error -2147220694 on Deployment of Shared Variables

Issue Details

I am getting the following error whenever I try to deploy shared variables to my Real-Time target:

-2147220694 (Hex 0x8004032A): Unable to access the configuration database because an incompatible data dictionary has been detected 

How do I solve this error?

Solution

This error often suggests software corruption either on the deployment machine or on the Real-Time target itself.

Perform the following steps to resolve the issue:
  1. Reset the MAX database to clear any improper configuration for the device on the computer. Attempt to deploy the shared variables once again.
  2. If you are still receiving the same error message, format the hard drive on the Real-Time target and reinstall the software. This should address the software corruption.
