Issue Details

  • My LabVIEW installation is taking well over an hour to complete.
  • The initial installation of LabVIEW is very slow.

Solution

One very common reason behind slow initialization is that your Firewall is trying to block LabVIEW from executing several actions.

To solve this issue you can disable the Windows Firewall following the next steps:

Windows 10, 8 and 7
  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select System and Security
  3. Choose Windows Firewall
  4. Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off on the left side of the screen
  5. Select the bubble next to Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended)
  6. Choose OK to save the changes
Windows Vista
  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select Security
  3. Choose Windows Firewall
  4. Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off on the left side of the screen
  5. Open the General tab and select the bubble next to Off (not recommended)
  6. Choose OK to save the changes

Windows XP

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select Network and Internet Connections
  3. Choose Network Connections under the or pick a Control Panel icon section
  4. Right-click or tap-and-hold your network connection and choose Properties
  5. Open the Advanced tab and select Settings
  6. Select OK in this window and then OK again in the Properties window of your network connection.

Additional Information

If you are using any other Firewall, you may need to start it, navigate through the environment and select the option that disables it. You should notice an increase in the initialization and installation speed.

Another cause for this problem could be the PC resources. The PC resources have a high importance in the general performance.
