I need to write and read simple commands to my Advanced Kollmorgen Drive (AKD) in LabVIEW without NI SoftMotion. What are my options?

You can use any compatible industrial protocol that LabVIEW has a driver for, such as NI-Industrial Communication for Ethernet/IP, NI-Industrial Communication for EtherCAT and MODBUS Communication Palette available through the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module.
