Create Directory Error 1317 When Installing LabVIEW FRC Update Suite

Issue Details

When I try to install the LabVIEW First Robotics Competition (FRC) Update Suite, the installation proceeds as normal until eventually hitting the following error:
 
Error 1317 An error occurred while attempting to create the directory C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\XXX
 
Where XXX could be any of the components installed by the FRC Update Suite.

Solution

This error is usually caused by the User Account or Login you are trying to install the software on not having correct permissions to read/write to certain directories. To fix this, try the following:

  1. Try to re-run the installer as administrator by right clicking on the autorun.exe and selecting Run as Administrator.
  2. Temporarily disable Windows Firewall in Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall.
  3. If you have Windows 10, temporarily disable real-time protection in the Windows Defender Security Center settings.
  4. Temporarily disable any third-party anti-virus software you may have installed on your computer.
  5. If your network has hidden security settings controller by an IT administrator, consider reaching out to them for further information if steps 1-4 are not successful.
