Issue Details

I am trying to activate NI software on my client machine using NI License Manager. I sent a request from the client to the server, but still see my software grayed out in License Manager. To troubleshoot, I checked the server's Volume License Manager (VLM) Debug Log and saw the following line next to the time of my request:

DENIED: User/host not on INCLUDE list for feature.

What does this mean, and how can I successfully activate the software on my client machine?

Solution

This message means that the user or host is not included in the server VLM. Make sure to add the client in VLM by following the instructions in Getting Started with NI VLM: Adding Client Permissions. If you have already added the client, ensure that the username or computer ID is correct, and that you have clicked Apply Changes after adding the client information.
