Finding Unclosed References in LabVIEW Code

I want to find all the places in my code where I forgot to close a reference, in order to prevent memory leaks. How can I do this?

Depending on your execution target, you can accomplish this by using either :

For Windows : the NI LabVIEW Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit, included in the LabVIEW Professional edition. Refer to this Getting Started product documentation for more information on using the LabVIEW Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit.

For Real-Time targets : the Real-Time Trace Viewer, included in the LabVIEW Real-Time Module since 2014 version. Refer to Debugging Multicore Applications with the Real-Time Trace Viewer for more information on using the Real-Time Trace Viewer.

Both options help track memory allocations in the VIs and subVIs of your project while they are running.

Prior to LabVIEW 2014, Real-Time Trace Viewer was packaged as a separated toolkit, under the NI Real-Time Execution Trace Toolkit name.
