Issue Details

I have an RT/FPGA project and am attempting to build a source distribution.  I receive a warning during the build that says:
LabVIEW prevented a file name collision during the build. Duplicate file names cannot be copied to the same destination. You can rename the files as part of the build process to avoid name conflicts.

The following files were moved to a unique location:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\LabVIEW Data\2017(32-bit)\<VI Path>
Why is this error happening and how do I resolve it?

First, check to see if you have multiple VIs with the same name.  If you do, rename one and attempt the build again.

If there are not multiple VIs with the same name within the project, then the error should rename the VIs automatically to resolve the issue.

You can also uncheck the "Use LabVIEW 8.x file layout" checkbox in your build specifications to retain VI hierarchy as shown below. This makes sure that your VIs are kept in different directories.

This error is solved in LabVIEW 2018 Build Previews.
