Does the 64-Bit Data Type in LabVIEW Require a 64-Bit Operating System?

Issue Details

I noticed that a new 64-bit data type was added in LabVIEW 8.0. Does the 64-bit data type require a 64-bit operating system to work, or can it be used on any operating system?

Solution

The 64-bit data type introduced in LabVIEW 8.0 does not require a 64-bit operating system. On 32-bit operating systems, the 64-bit data type is stored in two 32-bit registers rather than a single 64-bit register. On 64-bit operating systems, the 64-bit data type is currently also separated into two 32-bit data chunks.
