PXI Chassis Appears With Red X in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

Issue Details

My PXI chassis appears in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) with a red X next to it, but the cards in the chassis appear correctly. What does a red X mean and how can I connect to my chassis?

Solution

  • There might be previous configuration set for the chassis. To clear this, delete the chassis in NI MAX, reboot the chassis, and re-identify it in MAX.
  • This could also be caused by a MAX database, corruption. Follow these sets to Fix or Reset the NI MAX Database File
  • It might be that the card is malfunctioning. If the red X persists, turn off the computer and empty the all of the cards from the chassis while keeping the controller seated. When you reconnect to the empty chassis, it should appear correctly in MAX. Add the cards one by one back to the chassis.
