Missing Resource File for NI-845x.rc

Issue Details

  • I am trying to load a VI from another computer in the LabVIEW development environment and am getting the following error:
    • This VI needs a driver or toolkit component that is not found. Missing resource is NI845x.rc
 
  • I'm trying to run my TestStand sequence but I'm getting one of the the following errors: 
    • Missing resource file NI845x.rc​​​
    • File 'ni845x.llb\NI-845 DIO Write Line .vi' was not found.

What can I do to resolve this?

Solution

This generally means that you either do not have the NI-845x driver installed or you have the wrong version of the NI-845x driver for your version of LabVIEW. To download:
  1. Check your product compatibility. Certain versions of NI-845x will only be compatible with certain versions of LabVIEW
  2. Download the appropriate NI-845x driver. Make sure that you download the driver and not just the Runtime, as the Runtime does not have support for the palette subVIs in the LabVIEW IDE.

If using TestStand:

Besides checking the steps above, ensure that your TestStand Search Directories includes directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-845x\staging
If doesn't, you can add the path Editing the Search Directories Dialog Box
