Invalid Serial Number When Generating a Calibration Certificate

Issue Details

I am trying to generate a calibration certificate with the Instrument Certificate Generator, but a dialog says that the serial number is invalid. I verified that the purchase was made and the serial number is valid for NI hardware. What do I do?

Solution

  1. Verify that you are using the correct serial number by reading the section Hardware Customers  in the article Finding the Serial Number of My National Instruments Product . 
  2. If the serial number was obtained from NI MAX and it starts with a zero, try removing the first zero.
    • NI MAX will sometimes put a zero at the beginning of a serial number as a placeholder, but it is not actually part of the serial number.
