  • Multifunction I/O Device
  • Digital I/O Device

Issue Details

  • I need to use hardware-timing on ports other than port 0 of my X series device. However, when I configure my task to include other ports, I receive Error -201062, pictured below.
  • When trying to use PFI lines for a hardware-timed digital task, I receive error -201062: selected lines do not support buffered operations. This error doesn't occur when using port 0.

Error -201062 occurred at Untitled 3
Possible reason(s):
Selected lines do not support buffered operations.

Solution

This error will appear if trying to use anything other than port 0 for a hardware-timed digital task on an X Series device.

Port 0 supports hardware timing; allowing you to use a Digital Input or Output as a Sample Clock. None of the other ports have access to this hardware-timed digital input/output functionality and therefore cannot be used in this way.

Additional Information

The distinction between Port 0 lines and PFI lines will be outlined in the specifications document for your NI Device. An example for the PXIe-6375 is shown below.

You can read more on the difference between Digital I/O and PFI in chapters 6 and 8 of the X Series User Manual , respectively.
