Firmware Communication Failures for Open a Session to USRP over an Ethernet Bus

Issue Details

I get firmware (FW) communication failures when I try to open a session to a USRP 294x/295x over ethernet bus. What is the source of these failures?

Solution

Firmware communication failures with these USRP devices over ethernet may be due to the NIC (network interface card) in use. This behavior has been observed with Realtek ethernet NICs specifically. If you are experiencing these errors, try using a separate NIC in your PC or replacing the NIC with another brand. The Intel(R) 82579LM is a known working NIC.
