Issue Details

I've successfully created a Voltage Output Task using DAQmx, DAQ Assistant or a Test Panel in NI-MAX, but when I try to measure the output pins of my 651x PCI/PXI card, I read 0V.

Solution

The NI-651x Series acts as a switch for you to control using DAQ tasks, but does not directly generate the output voltage on the card.  For this you need to hook up an external power supply.

There are several configurations for this setup, all of which can be found in the NI 651X User Manual, under Chapter 4 - Power Connections.  There are diagrams in this chapter for each device in the series and how your power supply and load should be connected to the card.
