Issue Details

When trying to Snap or Grab an image from my GigE camera in NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), I get the following error:

Error 0xBFF6901B: Timeout.

This error only occurs the first time I click Snap or Grab. On subsequent clicks, the error does not occur and I receive the images fine. How can I troubleshoot this issue?

There are several troubleshooting steps to try:
  • If your GigE camera is plugged into a switch or into a third-party network interface card (NIC), try plugging it directly into the back of your PC.
  • Try turning off your firewall and antivirus software. These can interfere with the proper delivery of network packets.
  • Check in Windows Device Manager to make sure your NIC is capable of supporting jumbo frames, and that they are enabled.
  • Go into NI MAX Camera Properties:
  1. Change the Timeout Time looking at the Camera's datasheet as well.
  2. Change the Acquisition Mode into SingleFrame.
  3.  Make sure that the Frame Rate does not go over the Timeout time setting.
