Issue Details

I've just completed development of my application using shared variables and I would like to distribute it using an installer. beyond LabVIEW Run-Time Engine which software should include in the installer?

Solution

To distribute a LabVIEW application using an installer, in addition to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine you must include the NI Variable Engine in your installer, to do this please follow the steps below:

1. Right-click your installer in the Project Explorer window and select Properties.

4. From the Category list, click Additional Installers to display the Additional Installers page, which you can use to include National Instruments product installers that you need in the installer build. By default LabVIEW Run-Time Engine is added, to include other software click on the arrow next to Automatically select recommended installers.

5. Select NI Variable Engine:

6. Click the OK button to close the dialog box and update the project with the build specification settings.

7. Right-click the installer build specification and select Build from the shortcut menu to build the installer. A dialog box displays the progress of the build. When the dialog box displays the Installer build complete message, click the Done button.
