Can I use NI I/O Trace on my RS-232 Serial Card?

Issue Details

I have a RS-232 Serial Interface Module and I would like to use the NI I/O Trace (previously called NI Spy) tool with it. Can I do this? 

Solution

Devices that use serial communication do not support NI I/O Trace, so you cannot use this tool with them. If you are looking for a tool with similar functionality to use on your serial card, you can use the WinDbg tool, or other Windows debugging tools.
