Issue Details

I have old DAQ hardware or hardware that uses DAQmx that I am not sure is supported in my version of LabVIEW.  How do I determine if my version of LabVIEW or DAQmx is compatible with my hardware and operating system?

In order to communicate with NI Data Acquisition devices, you will need to install NI-DAQmx. The compatibility chart between LabVIEW and DAQmx, will help you determine if a version of DAQmx is compatible with your version of LabVIEW. You will want to use the latest version of DAQmx available for your version of LabVIEW.  Once you have the latest version of DAQmx supported, you can search for the DAQmx Readme for that year and search for your DAQ hardware you are using.  This will confirm that you have a version of LabVIEW and DAQmx that will support your hardware.

Additional Information

If troubleshooting an issue with your DAQmx hardware, there are two common causes of problems after a LabVIEW upgrade when using NI-DAQmx:
  • Incompatibility between the Operating System (OS), LabVIEW, NI-DAQmx, and the hardware devices or modules being used.
  • Failing to install or repair NI-DAQmx after the LabVIEW installation.
Learn how to ensure compatibility before upgrading, the proper steps to perform an upgrade, and how to troubleshoot any issues that may arise afterwards.
