Issue Details

I would like to use LabVIEW and a LabVIEW Toolkit in Windows Embedded Standard 7. Will it work?

Solution

General compatibility information for National Instruments' software is available in the Readme file and/or the download page of each software package. In case Windows 7, Windows 7 SP1, or Windows 7 Embedded is stated as supported operating system, the software can work on Windows 7 Embedded.

Windows 7 Embedded is a modular operating system. This enables a system integrator to exclude all unnecessary parts of the operating system to reduce its hardware requirements. Depending on which features the system integrator has removed, your National Instruments software might work or might not work.

Example 1: Windows 7 Standard Embedded with all options included has similar features as Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. Most software will work.
Example 2: The system integrator has removed all network features. All software that relies on network communication will not work.

Additional Information

NI software is signed with SHA-256 certificates. Windows 7 SP1, Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 require Microsoft updates to support SHA-256. Refer to Microsoft Security Advisory 3033929 - Availability of SHA-2 Code Signing Support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for more information about how to install this security update, in case it was not installed automatically by Windows Update Service.
