Issue Details

I am using cDAQ-9189 ethernet chassis and I am running a NI-DAQmx application writing to digital and analog output channels.
I noticed that, if the PC is shutdown unexpectedly or ethernet connection is lost, all the output values remain to the last written values.

Is it possible to automatically output safe-state values in these situations?

Solution

Yes, you can implement a DAQmx Watchdog timer, which is used to monitor and identify if the system is operating correctly. If the system is not operating as intended, it can be placed in a safe-state.

The Watchdog timer is included in the NI-DAQmx API for the cDAQ-9185, cDAQ-9189, NI X Series DAQ boards, and several industrial digital I/O (DIO) boards.
