Solution

Before you start working on adjusting parameters to improve OCR training, make sure the image acquired has a good definition and enough contrast between the characters and the background.

After you make sure you image is well enough to pass through the OCR training algorithm, you can do a fine tuning by adjusting the OCR settings found in the tabs on the lower side of the NI OCR Training Interface. Go to Help>>Online Help on the menu bar and then, on the contents tab, expand the Configuring OCR Settings section for tutorials and more detailed description of all parameters.
