Issue Details

I received the following error message when using NI Update Service or NI License Manager on my computer:

An issue communicating with National Instruments has occurred. Either this computer does not have an active Internet connection or is temporarily down. Verify your Internet connection and then click Try Again. If the problem persists, contact National Instruments.

My Internet connection is working, and I can navigate to What else could be wrong?

You may be receiving this message for several reasons:
  • Your computer's system clock may be out of range. Check your computer's system clock, and reset it to the current date so server authentication does not fail.
  • Internet Explorer is set to work offline. Allow Internet Explorer to work online. In Internet Explorer, ensure File»Work offline is not checked.
  • Your NVIDIA driver may be out of date and you receive Installer Error 1303:                                                                                                                                                                                                             If you have the NVIDIA driver installed, please download the most recent version from NVIDIA Driver Downloads.
  • File path for update storage is on a network drive. If this is the case, save your updates on a local drive.
  • Check your network settings, since IT could be blocking part of the internet connection.

Additional Information

If the errors persist after checking these steps and retrying the update at a later time please contact National Instruments technical support. Prior to contacting National Instruments technical support, please generate a NI Update Service log file.
