NI Package Manager Fails to Connect Through Proxy Despite Bypass Settings

  • Package Manager

Issue Details

We are using NI Package Manager on a computer that connects to the internet through a proxy server. Although we added *.ni.com to the bypass list of the proxy server and the proxy configuration of the PC NI Package Manager is installed on, it still fails to connect.

Solution

NI Package Manager retrieves the proxy bypass list from the operating system it is installed on. Wildcard domain exclusions like *.ni.com are not supported in this process.

Follow these steps to configure your proxy settings:
  1. Open Windows Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Internet Properties » Connections » LAN settings » Advanced
  3. In the textbox Exceptions, change *.ni.com; to download.ni.com;conduit-locator.ni.com;conduit.ni.com;. These are the domains currently used by NI Package Manager. Find a more detailed list in the article Problem Updating Feeds When Installing Through NI Package Manager .
  1. Click OK to save.
  2. Restart NI Package Manager.

Additional Information

NI Package Manager is a software for downloading, installing, managing, and upgrading NI software like LabVIEW NXG. It also gives access to additional drivers, modules, and add-ons.
If you are downloading third-party packages through NIPM such as tools from opal-rt, remember that you need to add the URI address to the feeds and you will also need to allow its corresponding addresses to this proxy exceptions.
