Issue Details

I have a LabVIEW application from a very old version of LabVIEW that used the Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module to communicate with various devices. I want to upgrade the application to a newer version of LabVIEW. The DSC configuration from the old system was stored in a SCF file. Is there a way to import the system configuration from this file?

Solution

LabVIEW contains a tool to migrate a SCF file into LabVIEW Variable Library (.lvlib) file that can be used with new versions of the LabVIEW DSC Module.
  1. In LabVIEW, go to Tools»DSC Module»Migrate»Configuration (.scf)...
  2. Select the SCF file that you want to import and click Select.
  3. The Configuration (.scf) File Migration window will show all tags that were included in the SCF file.
  4. Click Convert. This will generate a .lvlib file containing items for each of the tags in the SCF file that can be added to a LabVIEW project.
