Issue Details

There is a user defined LED named on the front panel of my PXI controller. I want to control that LED using LabVIEW. How do I use that LED?

Solution

On some PXI or PXIe controllers there is a user defined LED that can be controlled through LabVIEW Real-Time. The Figure below shows an example of a PXIe-8880 with the USER LEDs highlighted in green. There are often two bi-color LEDs called USER1 and USER2.
These LEDs can only be defined if the PXI controller is running a Real-Time operating system compatible with LabVIEW Real-Time. They can be controlled using the RT LEDs VI

To understand the process of controlling these LEDs further, refer to How Do I Access the User LEDs on My cFP or cRIO Controller? Follow the instructions for using the LEDS on a CompactRIO since the method is the same as it is for a Real-Time PXI controller.

Additional Information

Note: These LEDs can not be controlled through the Windows operating system on the controller. Specific information related to the LED can be found in the controller's user manual.
