Issue Details

I want to use the NI-9512 Drive Interface Module for my LabVIEW SoftMotion program. What cables should I use with the 9512?

Solution

The NI-9512 module has several cabling options for universal connectivity, specific device cables, and options for custom wiring.

For the most updated list of cables, you can visit the NI Shop page for the NI-9512 and select View Accessories

On the Options tab on the Shop page, you can select between different connections methods: Universal Connectivity, Direct Connection to Specific Drives, and Cable for Custom Connectivity.

  • Universal Connectivity: Mapped out terminal block connections for the NI-9512. Use this for an easier out-of-the-box experience if you do not have a specific drive, if you may use the terminal block for different projects, or if you might switch between different drives or integrated stepper motors.
  • Direct Connection to Specific Drives: Cables and terminal blocks for connecting to specific drives. Use this for simplified set-up for specific drives or if you do not plan on changing to a different drive.
  • Cable for Custom Connectivity: Connection cables for the 9512 if you would like to do custom cabling.
