Issue Details

I am interested in using a multidevice task to synchronize my hardware, does M-Series DAQ support this?

I've used multiple boards of the same type in a single NI-DAQmx Task before, but I'm not able to do this with a new board I'm using, why am I unable to do this with this boards?

Solution

No, M-Series does not support multidevice tasks.

For information on synchronizing M-Series devices, refer to M Series Synchronization with LabVIEW and NI-DAQmx .

For a list of device families which do support multi-device tasks, refer to the DAQmx Help Documentation regarding Multidevice Tasks .

If you want to test whether two particular devices support multidevice tasks, try simulating the devices in NI-MAX and creating a new AI task which utilizes one channel from each. If this process results in an error (ex. Error 201426), then multidevice tasks are not supported.

Additional Information

Other families of boards such Switch and Relay modules have the same restrictions of only a single board per DAQmx Task.
