Issue Details

I am trying to output a 5 V signal with a digital output from my NI 6238/6239 to a circuit. When I measure the voltage difference between the PFI of the digital output and the digital ground without the circuit I am able to measure the 5 V, but when connect the circuit I the voltage difference between the digital output and the ground to be 0 V.

Solution

The NI 6238/6239 cards require a power source for digital outputs:

According to the pinout for the PXI 6238 and the pinout for the PXI 6239 the power source should be connected to pins 19 (P1.GND) and 35 (P1.VCC).

Additional Information

For information on the power source for analog outputs refer to the analog output section of the specifications and to NI 6238/6239 Internal Voltage Drop Specification.
