Issue Details

I want to disable NI Update Service to stop displaying messages and notifications regarding installing available updates and patches. How can I disable these alerts on my computer?

Solution

National Instruments recommends that you don't disable NI Update Service because it is the main method of pushing software upgrades and vital patches to enhance functionality.

Prior to attempting the following steps, please make sure you have already tried the steps recommended in the following article.

Complete the following steps utilize Windows Task Scheduler and disable NI Update Service
  1. Navigate to Start>>Control Panel>>System and Security>>Administrative Tools>>Task Scheduler. Alternatively, search for Task Scheduler in your Windows start menu.
  2. Select Task Scheduler Library in the left most column to show all associated tasks.
  3. You should see two different NI Update Service tasks in the middle window. Right-click and select Disable for both of these tasks.
