Issue Details

  • I have a C-Series NI-XNET module in a cDAQ chassis. Previously, it was detected in NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). Now, it does not appear in NI MAX, although my NI-DAQmx modules are detected. How can I fix this?
  • I am receiving error -88705 in NI MAX when using my XNET card
  • I can not see my NI FlexRay and NI CAN cards in NI MAX

Solution

NI FlexRay and NI CAN cards both require NI-XNET drivers to work.
There are a couple of troubleshooting steps to follow:
  • Ensure that you have a version of NI-XNET installed that supports your hardware (check the Readme).
  1. Right click on software,  'Add/Remove Software'
  1. Uninstall the driver.
  2. Reinstall XNET driver  from the NI Website
  3. Restart NI MAX
  • Try different slots in the CompactDAQ (cDAQ) chassis.
  • Re-install the NI-XNET driver, or upgrade and make sure the version still supports your LabVIEW version.
  • If you upgrade the NI-XNET driver and the module appears, you may need to update the firmware of the module. You can accomplish this in NI MAX, by selecting your module and pressing Update Firmware.
  • Disable the firewall or any software that could be preventing network communication.
  • Try connecting different PC. If the other PC can detect the hardware, you may have to clean install Windows OS in your first PC or compare Windows registry entries to find difference.
  • If the module still does not appear, reset the MAX database .
