Error "There Was a Problem Sending the Command" When Opening LabVIEW VI

Issue Details

While opening any LabVIEW VI, an error window shows up saying: 
There was a problem sending the command to the program.

The VI still opens and works but the window is showing up everytime. What I can do to fix this?
 

Solution

This error can be caused by many different reasons, and can be an inconvenience but it doesn't limit LabVIEW's functionality.

To temporarily avoid this error:
  • Open LabVIEW, then click on File>>Open>>[Your VI] 
  • Right click the VI and choose Open with>>LabVIEW.
To permanently correct this behavior you could:
  • Add local Administrator privileges to your user account.
  • Set the default program for .lvproj and .vi files to notepad.exe. Then set it back to LabVIEW.
  • Disable Run this program as an administrator by right clicking the LabVIEW shortcut and going to Properties>>Compatibility.
  • Update your Windows OS to the latest available version.
